Current weather forecast for Banff National Park
Weather in Banff varies from mild and warm summers to frigid winters, however storms and bad weather can appear at any time throughout the year. Visitors should always be prepared for sudden changes. In general, the warmest month at Banff is July, with average high temperatures of around 22 degrees C in the Town of Banff. The coldest days of the year occur in January, with lows of -15 degrees C. Wind chill will make the temperature feel colder in the more exposed areas of the park, as will the altitude in the higher areas.
Snowfall in some areas of the park can be very deep, and provide beautiful winter landscapes to visitors with the means to access them. Snow tires and chains are required on some park roads during winter. Be especially careful of avalanches and check for the most recent warnings before heading out.
